And it begins!

by Sherrie

I’m typing from my room at Hyatt Regency Incheon – fantastic hotel and the staff here are so friendly and attentive. Highly recommended. I slept like a baby last night, after managing only 2 hours sleep on the plane from Sydney yesterday, as I had 2 hours sleep the night before. Too much excitement, I suppose!

Customs at Sydney didn’t take too long – to my surprise, it took me a total of 10 mins. Upon exiting out of customs , I realised I had forgotten to pack a pair of undies into my carryon for tonight. AW SHIT. Victoria’s Secret was open, so I went inside and bought a pair for $4. They’re quite comfortable.

My flight from Sydney to Incheon (Korean Air KE122) was comfortable, and I quite enjoyed the flight. The flight attendants were fantastic and they made sure I was comfortable…especially coughing nearly to death on a piece of dry potato wedge I had for breakfast, haha!! My seat mates were a lovely elderly couple from the Philippines – they helped me whenever I couldn’t understand the flight attendant (their lip patterns are so different to what I’m used to back home!). My only disappointment about the flight was that none of Hollywood blockbusters had English subtitles – only Korean subtitles. I ended up watching 3 foreign movies, which I quite enjoyed. I’m looking forward to watching more foreign movies on my Incheon – London flight.

As I said above, I stayed at Hyatt Regency Incheon – courtesy of Korean Air – it’s a fantastic hotel. Comes highly recommended. Their buffet – both dinner and breakfast – was wonderful. Reminded me of Bali – THIS IS HOW I LIVE! Only disappointment was that the TV in my room didn’t have the subtitles function, as I would have liked to check out the Korean channels. The shower took a while for me to figure out – I had given up on it and decided to run a bath (I wanted to shower as I had a bath last night)…until I decided to fiddle with the tap thingo…then I got a fright as my face was hit with water coming out of the shower. Hilarious.

It’s now time for me to check out…and I should sign off too.

Next update from London!

I’ve had fun with figuring out how the tap and the showers are connected in Korea! Also how to hide the toilet paper so that it didn’t get soggy with the lack of a shower curtain.

Hey Sherrie.. just discovered your blog . Great reading about your travels.. will definitely check back in again for updates.
I’m just wondering about the wheelchair story.. I have added a remark to the airline that you are hearing impaired, but that doesnt mean you are disabled.. must be a language thing.. LOL..

Glad that you enjoyed the flight and overnight in Seoul, I will use your story for future clients..

Safe travels.
